BasuraSHION was a sold out event with 71 attendees as well as parents and younger siblings to celebrate 6 models and designers from the Secondary School. Thanks to the generous support of Alex and the team at Magnolia's for making this possible. Thank you to all who attended. We're all very excited for version 2.0 next season!
Total we raised nearly $24,000 leaving us only 15,000 more to hit our goal. This will give the project the resources to properly support Antonio as he manages the garden between now at October.
Stay tuned on the facebook page as we will post our budget proposal which will include tools needed, the remaining hose and water infrastructure for the platanos and piņas, youth employment stipends to assist Antonio in June and July, as well as the end of the year party we throw annually for the secondary students.
Community Clean up Huge shout out to Myranda, Vicki, and Lisa for pulling everything together for today. We had 19 adult volunteers including teachers and 27 young people aged 5 to 15 who participated. Incredible show of force!
Photos coming!
Please join us, bring your ideas, and enthusiasm for a more beautiful and healthy La Manzanilla on Saturday 24 for another clean up day. Stay tuned and get involved!
Over the coming weeks, I'll be meeting with as many folks and collecting as many ideas for next year. Please contact me to give me you $0.02.
My plan is to distill the youth surveys, items from the open community meeting and items from my meetings with partners, school staff, etc into one concise report showing our impact this year and our goals for next year.
Abrazos a todos!
Seguimos!
Miguel
