About 60 Km before Guad, there's a turn-off for Tepic. New road, fast. You don't even see a hint of Guadalajara.
Then, at Tepic, there's a libramiento for Mazatlan, so You don't even see Tepic either. I don't know if that is new or not, but it was new for us. We paid over 900 pesos for cuotas in that section, and four of the casetas were "occupied" so we didn't have to pay. Also, it's about 100 miles longer than going through PV.
Bypass around Mazatlan. We didn't encounter any road construction until past Los Mochis. Between there and Navajoa it was bad. Navajoa had a new (to us) periferico, but we went through town...10 minutes and a windshield wash at a red light. Between Navajoa and Ciudad Obregon, good road and another bypass! No Ciudad Obregon, Yay!
The new Ciudad Obregon to Guaymas road is far from finished...all the way to Hermosillo it was in and out of construction zones and small towns.
Construction at the entry to Hermosillo backed up traffic for miles.
Good road to Santa Ana then on to Sonoyta. The place to take care of the temporary import permit for cars at Km 225 is set up for entering the country, not exiting. Got it done though.
Only two military inspections the whole way.
That's my road report.
