Interesting that I see no reference in the main article, talk or edits
about France intention of assisting the Confederacy even though
the blockade by the Union of slave cotton was causing a big problem in France.
Other items of note for me
1) The French imposed very liberal policies in the parts of Mexico they
conquered so much so the conservatives (and elite) of Mexico stopped
supporting them. Why would the French have such a liberal policy for
the Mexican people if they supported slavery in the Confederacy?
2) If the French had won Emiliano Zapata would not have had cause
(oppression of the poor by the elite) to start the revolution?
