Please put recyclable materials in a reusable container beside your trash. Our wonderful basureros have added a wire cage to the garbage truck to hold recyclables, and will take them to Las Hormigas Centro de Reciclaje (located right behind the primary school in La Manzanilla).
It is also possible to take recyclables directly to Las Hormigas. There are containers there for all accepted recyclable materials.
If you would like to participate in curbside pick up, please put recyclable materials in a reusable container next to your trash. Please do not use a plastic bag, which is not recyclable, makes extra work for Las Hormigas workers and volunteers, and adds to landfill waste.
While we do accept clear glass at Las Hormigas, please DO NOT put glass into your curbside pickup. Glass breaks, and is not safe for transport at this time. But please bring clear glass directly to our recycling center!
Here is a list of accepted materials and non recyclable materials. This list has been confirmed several times with the family company, Recicladora Tenacatita, that buys our recyclables.

La Hormigas and the recycling project is always in need of volunteers, if you have an interest in investing a little of your time please email Lisa, lisafernp@gmail.com
Thank you to everyone who has been involved in helping to make Las Hormigas a success! (We still have much to do!) The Engineers from La Huerta, the garbage men, the Primeria and Kinder students and their teachers and staff, as well as all volunteers and donors! We would not be where we are without you!
