Last time we were here Tenacatita was closed. Is it open to the public now and is it safe? We have heard that the snorkeling if fabulous - is there a specific area that is better than others for snorkeling and safe for young kids?
Many thanks, certainly love La Manzanilla! Woody...

We went there last week, and had lunch there. Chito's is set up on the road across the road from the beach, and they have umbrellas and food and drink service on the beach. I recommend the Pescado Zarandeado, a whole fish barbecued.
There is no check point and only a few security guards around, nothing intrusive. The whole beach is open.
For snorkelling you can either walk the road over the hill on the right hand side as you face the water, or walk on the rocks around the headland to the bay in the other side called Playa Mora. The water was clear the day we went, and there were lots of tropical fish to see. Kids could stay in closer to shore, where it's quite shallow and protected - we saw colourful fish there too.
Enjoy!

We went Monday and the water was very clear despite the red tide on this side of the bay. It's best to go in the AM during high tide and calm water before the wind comes up. Enjoy!!!
