~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes, you do need to transport your recyclables to this first site. It's a start, and with the help of our volunteers, students and their families, and El Municipio de La Huerta, we hope to expand the separation and collection of recyclables, (including organic material), so that we can reduce the quantity entering the land fill.
Thank you for saving these things in your homes until now!
If you have suggestions or want to help La Manzanilla Hermosa, please contact me. It takes a village!
Does that mean no 'tetra paks" such as juice and loiquid caldo de pollo come in? Lata time I was ther I was told to put those in a bin for miscellaneous paper. ??
Thanks for the question Judith. Those tetra paks"? are some the of "recycling mysteries" which we hope to solve in the coming days. We think they are trash, but will confirm this and other questionable items with the recycler in Agua Caliente Viejo.
We are starting a small construction project at Las Hormigas recycle site behind the primary school.
This will be a covered structure so that the cardboard and paper will stay dry and viable in the rainy season. I was surprised that this material is quite valuable. Every little bit helps the school with basic needs.
When we have the estimate (with hopefully some discounts by the vendors) I will post here and anyone who would like to donate can contact me directly.
Thanks for your continued support!
Here's a photo of the glass recycle area getting tidied up. The covered structure will run along the opposite (North) side of the site
