To whom it May concern:
By this means, I am writing to you to send you the results of the water samples taken in the La Manzanilla Bay municipality of La Huerta Jalisco.
Fig.1 Study area and location of the sampling stations.
Edit: corrected
The quality of water for recreation use in the Bay of Manzanilla is acceptable since it is within the permissible limits, as established by the Official Mexican Standard NOM-181-SSA1-1998, NMX-AA-042-SCFI-2015 WATER ANALYSIS - ENUMERATION OF TOTAL COLIFORAL ORGANISMS, FECAL COLIFORM ORGANISMS (THERMOTOLERANTS) AND Escherichia coli - most likely number method in multiple tubes, NMX-AA-089/1-SCFI-2010, NMX-AA-089/2-SCFI -2010 (Protection of the environment - water quality) and NOM-127-SSA1-1994.
According to the results obtained from the water samples for the analysis of the coliform group, the bay presents a good state of health since in most of the seasons it has low concentrations of bacteria, with the exception of station 5 (Fig. .1) located on the south side of the bay, (by the fishing boats) which has higher results than the rest, due to the constant supply of water from the natural runoff of the stream that flows into this area.
The presence and degree of fecal contamination is an important factor in the evaluation of the quality of a body of water. Examining water samples for the presence of organisms from the group of coliform bacteria (which normally inhabit the human intestine and other warm-blooded animals), provides an indicator of contamination. Since the ability of some organisms belonging to the group of coliform bacteria to survive in water is limited, their quantity can also be used to estimate the degree of recent fecal contamination.

A Quien corresponda:
