table with leaves
Posted by Carol L on October 23, 2018, 3:43 pm
I could use a bigger table. I'm teaching informal English classes to my neighbors' kids, and my table is a little too small. My house is small, too, so I want one with leaves, that I can pull out only when I need to. Does anyone have one to sell? Or have you seen them available locally? (Near La Manzanilla) I know I could get one made, but prefer to get it already made (no surprises, etc.) and would like that it be natural wood, etc. (not a mass produced IKEA type)

Carol I might have one to trade you for the one the kids are using if you like it. But I won’t be down until late Nov.? I am using mine to hold my TV so I need a replacement. The table has folding leaves to store easily. Good luck n meantime. And BUENA SUERTE TO ALL with all this rain. At least it won’t be as dusty as last year?! | -----------------Re: table with leaves

Thanks for your responses, Anne and Patricia Great news, Patricia. I look forward to seeing it - and you! I'll send you an email. Anne, they love LEGO here. It's so good for creativity, sharing, language development. But of course it's expensive here. If anyone wants to buy some used LEGO up north (I got it at Value Village), it comes in bags, just all mixed up , broken sets, and is inexpensive. Throw it in your suitcase at the last minute, so the pieces fill up the little extra spaces, and it won't weigh much. Your neighbor kids will love you. And I will, too, if you want to add to my collection.

Hi Carol, I don’t have a table but think it is great that you are teaching English to the neighbour kids. When I come down in late November I would love to help out if you could use a volunteer. Also I could perhaps bring some material if that would be helpful. That would be great, Chris - both of your offers. It seems to be easy to keep the kids learning new words, and I think they like being in a group, supporting and challenging each other to speak English. What would be helpful is any kind of reading material in English for kids of various ages. I'll get a copy of Julie's book, too, and it will be a resource with some structure, in case the 'classes' evolve that way. Thanks to Mateo for suggesting I start this - it's great to be able to do it from home.
