Is there a store in the La Mazanilla/Melaque area that sells Borax? | -----------------Re: Borax

Yes, it comes in powder form. I use it to keep exoskeleton type insects out of the house. It is a desiccant. It’s safe for use around mammals but most unfriendly to exoskeleton critters. | -----------------Re: Borax

What I have found here, readily available in the ferreterias (hardware store), is BORIC ACID, commonly used as an insect repellent and as a fire suppresant. BORAX is relatively expensive and elusive in this part of the planet, albeit available online and there are some nice folks in Barra that offered me some for sale. IT all gets down to whadaaayaaa waaaanaaa do witchit? Keep out bugs and discourage fires??? Go with BORIC ACID. Maybe you want to melt glass and flux metals to make beautiful jewelry or possibly repair a warer leak? Entonces Borax es el mejor para ti. | -----------------Re: Borax

We do use Borax and Boron frits in the ceramic industry. It lowers the melting point of glazes,. and as Monty says melt glass. It is a flux.FYI. | -----------------Re: Borax

Borax is high in boron which most people are deficient in,.,it is also used internally for bone strength and health. They say it is incredible for arthritis and osteoarthritis as well lots of info on u tube about this. I do not know if boric acid like we can buy for insects here is the same ...kinda doubt it tho does anyone know where to buy real Borax like in 20 Mule Team kind? I bought Borax at the Hawaii store 2 years ago. It was a large box, and was quite expensive ( I seem to remember 200 pesos.) Davison told me that they use a combination off Borax and boric acid to soak the bamboo they use for construction, to prevent termites. I seem to have lots of random knowledge about these 2 products, which are supposed to be ‘non toxic’ for humans. I tried a recipe of borax and sugar to get rid of countertop ants, but it didn’t work...May be it needed some boric acid as well? Anyway, one visit from Morfin and the ants disappeared. | -----------------Re: Borax
