Moving right along

I want to give you the latest news on the ambulance project. Since the Director of Hospitals gave us permission to use the Centro de Salud as a base for the ambulance, we jumped on preparing that area for the delivery of the new ambulance at the end of this month or beginning of next month. A brand new fence has been installed and a concrete pad has been poured for parking the ambulance. At the back of the area covered by a palapa, a storeroom is being built for ambulance equipment and supplies. I'm in the process of getting bids to put a palapa up over the parking pad to shelter the ambulance. Through the course of working at the Centro de Salud, I've met the new doctor, Dr. Martin. He seems like an enthusiastic, bright young man who is ready to serve our community. Fun fact: he currently has 24 pregnant women in his care! Please go by the Centro and see what's happening, and possibly stop in to welcome our new doc!

Congratulations, Jeanne! What a huge accomplishment to get this far with the project. The whole Centro de Salud will get a boost from all this care and attention, not to mention the new ambulance! | -------------------Re: Moving right along

Having recently "enjoyed" an emergency trip to Manzanillo with a broken hip and femur, I can assure you that we really need a new ambulance. The old one did the job and Francisco was kind and gentle, but it was not a soft ride! Lyn | -------------------Re: Moving right along

You deserve a huge thank-you for all you’ve done, and for just recently buying a new bed for the doctor to sleep on! Bien hecho! | -------------------Re: Moving right along

This is such a great thing for all of us. So, what phone number do we call if we need it? | -------------------Re: The ambulance is on its way!

Hola, Sherri. The cell phone number for the ambulance is 315 112 4048. This number is answered by Francisco of Proteccion Civil. Fransico speaks only a little English but, so far, this has not kept the ambulance from getting to the correct location for service. Great job, Jeanne, getting the 'new' ambulance to us. I'll be posting the January and February work carried out by the 'old' one so we can see why the 'new' ambulance is so needed. Thank you again for all your work doing this for the community and for Dan. I'm sure there is a smile on his face as there is on ours! Cruz
