The English Class in Los Ingenios

Daniel H. encouraged us to post here about the English classes that my wife Debbie and I, and a group of volunteers have been teaching every week in the nearby village of Los Ingenios. These photos are from our last class of the season in the little 2-room schoolhouse. Debbie created a "Jeopardy" game to review all the English words the kids have learned so far. It was a hit, and they did well! Deb handed out prizes to everyone, including multi-colour pens and homemade Rice-crispy Squares. We gave a laptop computer to the smartest kid Esteban - he was thrilled. Thanks to all the class helpers - Jeanne Crosby, Sally Browne, Diane Goodwin Phelps, and Janice Dempsey. Thank you for donating your time - these kids will never forget you! See you all next season!

Thank you for sharing these heart-warming pictures, for sharing part of your story with these eager, impressionable and grateful kids. You have been/are changing lives through your involvement with them and you are so right, they will never forget you or you them. Thank you! Yesterday my husband and I walked to Los Ingenios, while there we crossed a little boy who proudly said to us « Good Morning « no doubt one of your students! | -------------------
