Normally the dominant bird around the office is the black bird. It has a few different calls, some ok some really annoying. It's not nice to other birds nor other black birds. Starting about 3 months ago the Dove has taken its place, I love the sound of their cooo and have never seen them be mean to any other bird nor to each other. A while ago they started mating. Now its over 3 weeks later and every time I see them they are still getting it on! Either the male is missing the mark or they are partying. I have a feeling its the latter. I did some searching, they pair for life, the female can lay eggs as often as once a month and they can have up to 6 broods of young per year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_of_Mexico#Pigeons_and_doves https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mourning_dove#Reproduction

One year, I think in the late '90's, Sharon was walking home from the tienda and found some baby pigeons on the ground. They had fallen from the nest. She picked them up and brought them to the house. What did she want to do with them? She didn't know, so she asked the workers at our house and they all started to laugh. Apparently, the pigeons, most all of them, have some kind of mites. Right then she got all itchy and quickly ran back and put them in their nest. She came back, undressed, put the clothes in a plastic bag, and took a long shower. So,if you have pigeons nesting in your house eves..... | -------------------Re: Today I realized

Interesting that since I did this post I have only seen a Dove twice and each time it was one by itself. Something changed and it makes me wish I could have a conversation with one of the Dove's which may go something like this. Me - Hey Dove nice to talk to you. I couldn't help but notice that you all have been around a lot more than usual, and have been quite active, if you catch my drift. Dove - Black birds are such jerks we tend to hang out where they aren't. As far as the copulation you hinted at...most of those encounters you saw were me and my new mate. We just met this year and are deeply in love so we took the breeding thing quite a ways past its intended purpose. I am sure its similar in your world. Nice to talk to you. Cya Me - Ok, thanks for the clarification, nice to talk to you as well. Take care. | -------------------Re: Today I realized
