Did I read the article correctly ...Mr Trump backed off on building the wall as Mexico was considering cutting Super Bowl revellers in the US out of avocados for their guacamole ?? | -------------------Re: Mexico facing a guacamole crisis

The wall will be opened in mid-January specifically for avocado importation prior to the Super Bowl. Of course, that is assuming that there is no NFL 'kneeling' taking place. If there is 'kneeling', all avocado bets are off. The trump administration is looking into this very strongly. | -------------------Re: Mexico facing a guacamole crisis

yes you're probably right Jim -- but they might also fly them over the wall or dig under the wall or go around the wall but no ...opening a gate for free passage of avodadoes is the best idea ..they won't get bruised .... | -------------------Re: Mexico facing a guacamole crisis

I just paid 89 pesos a kilo, which came to 25 pesos for two medium avocados. Under $1.40 USD. When we moved to Mexico in 2005, they were $10 to $15 pesos a kilo on Lake Chapala. That's about $0.20 USD apiece. We had been paying about $2.79 apiece in New York prior to that. So I still don't find the price here to be too high to afford at about $0.70 US each. Prices have been this high more than once before, only to fall back down. I'm not sure that's going to happen again, though.
