Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

A week ago, Tia arranged for a lancha out there and Vern took a drone video of the construction site. Best, if viewed in at least 1080p. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting, great production. It's both breath-taking and terrifying to watch that cute little monkey next door grow into a one ton gorilla. | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

Great video that begs a question: What is their source of potable water? | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

Their water comes from Lamanz's aquifer and is pumped through town and over the hills to supply most all of Tamarindo's needs. Thanks Elke, tell Vern thanks for the great video. Rojo | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

So is there enough water in the aquifer for La Manz, the Villas, AND the golf course? | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

Thank you Elke and Vern for the video. AND thank you Bill Gates and Prince Alwaleed! According to what I have heard in town, Bill Gates and Prince Alwaleed pay their workers here about 700 pesos a week - for a 6 day workweek... My local home helpers just told me that the Four Seasons workers are paid more than 700 pesos a week. I will find out how much and get back to you. Anneli | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

So this is what our home helpers informed us, about the salaries for the Four Seasons workers: If NOT local person: 4000 pesos/week - 10 hour days (8-6), 1 hr lunch, 6 days a week but stop at 1 pm on Saturdays. They have to pay 50 pesos for breakfast and 50 pesos for lunch at their workplace. They also pay for the own board. If the worker is local: 2200 pesos/week They also pay 50 pesos for breakfast and 50 pesos for lunch, but they try to bring their own food for the day. All workers get IMSS (the government health care insurance) and disability insurance. Regarding salary taxes, we don’t know. One thing that I have often wondered---If there is so much money being spent on this project, why did they not build their own road from the original entrance instead of running those monstrous trucks through our pueblo? Please do not tell me that once it is finished, we will be seeing traffic of more cars passing through La Manz on their way to Four Seasons! | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

Thank you for the footage Elke! That is a lot of work! And a lot bigger than I ever imagined! Can we convince them to de-salinate the ocean for their water source? Who do we try to convince??? Any ideas? | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

I don’t know about the la Manz aquifer specifically, so this is just my personal experience with coastal properties. If the water table is pumped too low with a coastal well, there may be a significant chance of salt water incursion into the freshwater aquifer. Desalination May eventually be necessary for everyone if the local wells are not cared for in a proper manner. I really hope that good engineers have analyzed the aquifer and their recommendations are followed. | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

Concerns about water should include concerns about sewage as the water used will become sewage from bathing, excreting, dish washing, laundry, car washing and my personal favorite landscape chemical runoff. Where will all of this water go? Has anyone seen the proposed sewage disposal plan? Is there one? | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

I concur with most of the responses but have been lax in saying so. Great video, thank you. Satisfied most of my curiosity. | -------------------Re: Four Seasons Resort @ Tamarindo DRONE footage

Incredible shoot Vern, as usual! When I get back in the winter I would like to talk with you about a drone shoot project that I have been thinking about for many years! As far as the water issue my sources told me that the hotel and/or associates have purchased property across the highway up by Boca De Iguana. This property is purported to have a huge water aquifer that was located via sensors from a helicopter. That said, lets hope it is not the aquifer associated with LM's. But, as I stated many years ago, during one of the many previous water shortage conversations on this very board, at that time, the powers that be should have required all current and future construction to include rain catchment systems, like they use on the dry side (Kona) of the big island of Hawaii!! Alas, to no avail!! I wish us all good luck! | -------------------
