You can get anything on line at a price including Calvados! Alas, I'm pretty sure it is only sold over the counter in France | ------------------Re: Calvados

1)Normandy is a major cider-producing region (very little wine is produced) . Apple brandy, of which the most famous variety is calvados, is also popular. It is distilled apple cider. The mealtime trou normand, or "Norman hole", is a pause between meal courses in which diners partake of a glassful of calvados in order to improve the appetite and make room for the next course, and this is still observed in many homes and restaurants. Many meals are based on creamy sauces.. 2)A friend of mine was teaching english in rural normandy. Her class was the first period of the day.She noticed kids falling asleep...It was not her teaching.. Some kids were given a shot of calvados before the long walk to school.... Normandy has a cold and rainy weather ..for France 3) Cafe-calva at the bistro, old habit of the workers early morning before going to work. Small espresso and a shot of calvados. In the 19th century, output increased with industrial distillation and the working class fashion for café-calva. When a phylloxera outbreak in the last quarter of the 19th century devastated the vineyards of France and Europe, calvados experienced a "golden age". During World War I, cider brandy was requisitioned for use in armaments due to its alcohol content. 4)Love the stuff.. Not always available in Canada so I have to go to France yearly.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvados
