As I said I was playing devil's advocate, I could argue against the position I took. Distancing is crucial (as you said), hunger/poverty is very real which gives us a dilemma. That dilemma has several possible solutions, here are a couple. One would be to augment the pay of the most poor so they could do distancing. Another could be a rotation of workers, 1/2 work one day the other 1/2 another day, which may cut the economic hit in 1/2. "What we have here is a failure to communicate" its almost always the case, we could also work on that.
