The Otra Vez challenge...
Posted by Stephanie on January 13, 2020, 8:04 pm
The volunteers at Otra Vez, the thrift shop located next to the bookstore, would like to match funds for continuous support of the ambulance that has graced our pueblo! Money flows into this pueblo for a very short time, approximately 4-5 months out of the year! But costs to maintain something as important as the ambulance is an ongoing operation and needs funds to maintain both the mechanical and the trained persons who transport individuals to much needed help! This means money is needed for the other 7-8 months that donations are not coming in! So...we pledge to match 20,000 pesos ....can you help? Donations can be dropped at the bookstore from 10-1 daily as we have an ongoing jar during the season! We all appreciate this pueblo and all that it offers us while here, so let’s pay it forward to help out when we are not here! Our way of saying thanks to those we care for!

Thank you so much, Stephanie and Otra Vez. So--you will match our donations up to $20,000 pesos? That's wonderful! I'm not sure that people realize how much it costs for our basic expenses for the ambulance. The crew gets paid $800 pesos for every call, so, for example, last night we were called out to a serious accident on the highway. Because of the seriousness, three crew members went out. That means we need $2400 pesos just for last night. Over the month of December alone we had 12 calls. The cost for those calls was approximately $15,000 pesos. The board members and I are working on forming a foundation for the ambulance which will enable us to apply for grants and to get larger donations, but in the meantime, we count on your donations. Please be generous to help us meet the Otra Vez Challenge! | ----------------Re: The Otra Vez challenge...

We're on our way! So far today we've collected $2000 pesos--only $18,000 pesos to go! If you leave the money with Mayan at La Manzanilla Homes, she will add it to our challenge amount and give you a receipt. I also just was notified that someone has made a donation through Western Union! | ----------------Re: The Otra Vez challenge...
