Litter patrol volunteers remove litter from the beach, streets and arroyo on their own schedules and routes.
The following only represents the efforts of me and Patricia Sheets. I am confident that other volunteers' unreported efforts are considerable. Volunteers may report their efforts if they would like.
In 2019, volunteers reported spending 62 hours on litter patrol and collecting 240 gallons and 2 tires from the beach, 135 gallons from the streets and arroyo, and recycling 246 plastic bottles.
Since 2008, volunteers reported spending 2,211 hours on litter patrol and collecting 15,773 gallons, several fishing nets, and 2 tires from the beach,1,067 gallons from the streets and arroyo, and recycling 4,581 plastic bottles.
Respectfully,
Vicki Mercer Lead, Litter Committee La Manzanilla Hermosa
Reports to me at mercer.vicki@gmail.com are encouraged but are not required. Useful information includes name(s), date(s), amount time, route(s), and volume removed.
Every piece of litter removed, whether reported or not, is helpful to the cause and is appreciated!
The Litter Committee and its Litter Patrol Team do not have meetings.
A big thank you to everyone has been removing litter and garbage from the beaches and streets. I was a visitor in 2015, and in my opinion the beaches are much cleaner!
Remember, as a society we often "vote" with our pocketbooks. Purchasing drinks in returnable glass bottles, or supporting establishments that do so helps keep that cycle strong and reduces demand for the single use, disposable plastic bottles, that often don't get recycled.
Una cosa más que se puede hacer además de decir no al popote
