The ambulance continues!

First, I want to thank every one of you who has donated to this wonderful project. I am so proud of our ambulance team, all the work they've done, and proud of the support the community is giving them. We have continued to go on an average of 5 or 6 calls every week, more when there's a rodeo or other event, as well as continuing with training. Without your donations, that would not have been possible. Yet so many people I've talked to think our work is now done. They aren't aware of the costs to run an ambulance service. The cost of every call that the ambulance goes on is $2000 pesos. That covers the pay for the team, their training, insurance, supplies, etc. Just the pay for the team is $1600 pesos per call, or about $84 USD. Please, as some of you are beginning to head north, leaving La Manzanilla for your summer homes, remember that the ambulance service continues and needs your support. We have a couple of fund-raising events coming up soon. Please attend and donate as generously as you can. We are also always accepting donations at Mayan's business, La Manzanilla Homes. She will give you a receipt for your donations. You can also donate through Western Union for a small charge. Thank you so much for your continued support! | ----------------Re: The ambulance continues!

Just to clarify.....as there is not a billing system set up in the event you need the ambulance service...a donation is appreciated to cover the cost, When we hear 2,000 pesos some think oh my...2,000 pesos...it is less than a $100.00! Think of what a 40 minute ride with trained staff would cost you elsewhere! So please give generously for this service so that it can continue! Donations also accepted at the bookstore where we also sell the magnets with the emergency number. Thank you! | ----------------Re: The ambulance continues!

Jeanne you and your team have done an amazing job. I have proposed to the HOA here in Boca de Iguanas a $500 contribution from our group. The response was positive and will be voted on the beginning of March when the home owners come for our annual meeting. Maybe there are other similar groups in the area that can make a collective contribution. Not sure how best to do this but I assume there is a way to transfer the funds to you from our reserve fund in the USA. | ----------------Re: The ambulance continues!

I have a couple of charities I donate to monthly via paypal or Venmo. Is there any way to do that with the ambulance team yet? I have them set up as autodrafts so I don't have to remember! What you have done is nothing short of amazing! | ----------------Re: The ambulance continues!

Thank you so much for your positive responses. If you want to donate from somewhere other than here, please use Western Union. There is an option that is slower and the fee is lower. Use that one. We can then pick it up right here in La Manzanilla. I have tried PayPal, but for some reason it doesn't work for me, or it sends the money to my account in the States, which causes just a slew of trouble! | ----------------Re: The ambulance continues!

I want to remind you that the ambulance is a real community effort. It belongs to you as a member of the wonderful La Manzanilla community. Please take care of it. The next person who needs help may be you or a loved one. Help us to help you! | ----------------
