Let us hope the restaurants are NOT closed, but guidelines are established. THIS IS THEIR LIFE. It is not as if the Mexican government will swoop in and pass a bill to compensate lost revenue. We need to be sensitive to their culture and when/how $ is made to support their families and employees while also respecting the personal safety of all of us. | ----------------Re: A quiet beach...

My daughter's friend, a chef at a restaurant in Gaudalajara has been laid off along with close to 500 other employees (some based in Mexico City) without compensation of loss of salary. This is a time when all have to sacrifice and help save lives, a concept the locals will have to try and understand. This is not an issue about being 'sensitive to their culture'. | ----------------Re: A quiet beach...

Yes a very quiet day (even though Sunday's are normally quieter). It could be the normal (people saving up for the coming Semana Santa thing) or it could be something COVID related, who knows? Personally I think we may get a month of Sunday's, which would be fine with me. I haven't changed anything (well I did panic buy cigarettes today, got 6 packs). A friend came by who just panic bought 3 Jack Daniels canned drinks, offered one to me before they left (1/3 of the horde). My kinda folk. There is a restaurant meeting tomorrow, closing, doubtful, limited occupancy expected. P.S. The conservative side of me would have liked to see the cashier at the store sanatize her hands before serving me. I washed my hands when I got home. | ----------------Re: A quiet beach...

I've been out and about this weekend. I don't see any precautions being taken. the boys are wrestling, people are eating tacos on the street, not seeing any social distancing. Maybe things will change if and when people start getting sick. Only my observations | ----------------Re: A quiet beach...

It’s only gonna work if the whole world does it...otherwise it’ll go around the globe a few times. Restaurants in Santiago have ordering on on line and they throw it in the car when you drive by. Or some do free delivery and leave it at your door. The time is now to be creative and support local restaurants...or simply contribute cash to the employees if you care. If you can you must

Going out only when needed. Distressing from our view to see so many people at the square last night. Seems to me people are not understanding. Worrisome. Be careful. | ----------------
