Not sure what the petition says but pretty sure if its about commerce you need locals to sign or its just another case of gringos coming down here and telling the Mexicans what to do. My experience is they dont like that | ----------------Re: petition

That is a good point. I have worked for several decades in this country and many others. We are guests here. They do not like us telling them what to do. Spoke with local friends of ours that run a family restaurant the other night. They echoed the sentiment that if they lose Semena Santa they will not survive. I had it in my mind that if the beaches closed I would take it upon myself to make sure they eat. Are we all willing to do that? If not, we really cant expect them to give up their livelihood. They are getting more and more concerned about the virus but are much more concerned about feeding their families. In Canada the government is subsidizing people out of work ensuring everyone will make it. No such thing here. Be careful in how you approach this. No one likes a pushy know it all gringo. This is their country. If we cant deal with that, what are we doing here? Praying for the best outcome possible. Any ideas how us "pushy Gringos" can work together to help each other and the locals as well? | ----------------Re: petition

This isn't about being pushy gringos. There are numbers of permanent expat residents, with La Manzanilla being their only home. Surely they have rights too and their concerns deserve to be respected? Not all are living off big cushy pensions.... It is unlikely that anyone will go hungry in this town no matter what happens - the community will provide an adequate safety net. | ----------------Re: petition

This is just my opinnion us a mexican and a La Manzanilla resident I donīt speak for everyone. As you all know I am mexican my bussiness depends on "gringos" even so I want the Semana Santa to be cancel. I donīt agree with signing a petition, I understand how importan this is so our hospitals donīt collapse but the authorities have to decide that. We donīt like to be told what to do even when is our government,so you can imagine if it comes from "gringos", some mexicans even get offend when you are trying to help. I wasnīt at the meeting but I hear that locals donīt wan't to do it, this may not be the most convenient of all but if the authorities wanna do it like this is them who are gonna suffer you can always quarentine your self until this has pass. If you are a "gringo" living here please respect us we are happy you live here year around or even if you are stuck here but please respect us and our decitions you do have rights ans if is the case that they are not respecting em'go to the authorities and make it right. | ----------------Re: petition
