I am so, so touched and I had to write that in my lifetime I am seeing, in my country of birth, that the atrocity of racism against blacks and people of color is finally being truthfully addressed and that finally we are acknowledging the suffering, hatred and violence that they/we live under. It affects us all, directly and indirectly.
We have not been the best we can be. With or without the awareness, we have not been living the beautiful life of equality. I cop to living beside discrimination and not using my every breath to correct it. I knew it was there, just lived beside it and gave it lip service.
There is so much to undo and correct, not just police and court system brutality. For Blacks, every aspect of living has been unremittingly and systematically accosted culturally by governmental institutions, laws, economics, education, you name it, every aspect of their life. The knee has never left their neck. But I am hopeful that this time corrections will be made that in the past have been only promises, loopholes, and subterfuges, encouraging hope that has died a thousand deaths.
Okay, enough blah, blah. If each one of us contributes to undoing racism we can do it. Please click on the link to find 75 ways to correct racial injustice and commit to doing at least one action. Spread the word to others that we need action, each grain builds. If you are already doing stuff, great!:

Also, please, please view the documentary, 13th (for Amendment 13 to the Constitution) on Netflix. Find someone that has it, it will open your eyes like nothing else has. The time has come for all of us to see how the USA has managed to criminalize and marginalize Blacks. Incredible and unbelievable that we could stoop to such tactics but it is a mobilizer.
And don't forget the Browns, our lives matter too. Thank you so much for being my friend and lending me your ear, Cruz
PS: Moderator, I tried e-mailing you to ask if this post was appropriate but my e-mail was returned as not deliverable. I believe the post should be allowed as discrimination lives everywhere in the world. Here in Mexico, as in Canada, racism is suffered by their indigenous peoples.
