The Daily Beast
"The Daily Beast is an American news and opinion website focused on politics and pop culture. In a 2015 interview, former editor-in-chief John Avlon described The Beast's editorial approach: "We seek out scoops, scandals, and stories about secret worlds;"

Read that as click bait
"Click bait definition is - something (such as a headline) designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially when the link leads to content of dubious value or interest."

The article the daily beast linked to is from March 31. Here is an
article quoting Kim Prather on June 26th, she has chosen her words
a lot more carefully since March, now using words like - looking into -
The possibility - Researchers are trying to figure out - We’re trying
to understand - etc.

Edit: The Daily Beast article has Reuters as the source. That should be
a link and I find it strange that I can't find anything on Reuters about
the story.
