Here is the update for us here as I know it....schools have now been closed til the 20th of April ...stores are open as of this morning, perhaps two new cases in Zapopan, Jalisco....and the stores are out of hand sanitizer....but plenty of toilet paper! | ------------Re: Another new thread...

Canada has closed the border to everyone except Canadians returning home. Justin Trudeau says that Canadians should come home now! The schools are closed until further notice, gatherings over 10 people not advised, should practice social distancing, restaurants and bars closed but grocery stores, banks, hospitals will remain open. People are advised to stay home unless for essential purposes. The DOW is down 3000 points, first time ever. This all may go on though July or August. | ------------Re: Another new thread...

Ross -- your statement not quite correct. "Canada is barring entry to all travellers who are not Canadian citizens, permanent residents or Americans, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today" - CBC Today I drove to Manzanillo stopping at two PEMEX stations -- the pump attendants were all wearing surgical masks. Stopped at El Oro to fill up propane cannister -- large information poster about Covid-19 virus. Soriano store greeter was wiping handles of each shopping cart as patrons entered store. Inventory of all products at normal levels. Jim T | ------------Re: Another new thread...

Thank you Jim. | ------------Re: Another new thread...

Kathy and I went shopping today at Commercial, WalMart, Sam's Club and Home Depot in Manzanillo. No hand sanitizer to be found for sale. Otherwise, we were able to purchase everything on our list. It seemed to us that there were more shoppers out, apparently stocking up on staples. HSBC ATM conversion rate was $$21.39 MX to $1.00 U.S. | ------------Re: Another new thread...

We are on day 4 of our quarantine in Comox, BC, Canada. We found that going for a drive helped a lot. People were out and about walking in the sunshine. If you just stay in your house and watch the news, you start to expect a ghost town out there, but life continues to go on, which is comforting. | ------------Re: Another new thread...

My daughter flew out of LAX yesterday. Her report was that it seemed "normal" and perhaps a little less crowded than she generally expects. | ------------Re: Another new thread...

All Canadian and American airlines are still flying within North America. Flights outside the continent are limited to those countries that still have open borders. The EU is closing its borders so flights from North America will be suspended. In Canada, Westjet is suspending international flights March 22, including to/from Mexico, but not including to/from the USA. WestJet is diverting those aircraft to repatriation efforts in cooperation with the Canadian government. | ------------Re: Another new thread...

Something I neglected to include in my earlier post: One of my reasons for going to Manzanillo was to get gloves for our return airflight north--a common item in the GWN (great white north) but, not so in Mexico. Walmart had 4 packages of latex (medical) gloves in their paint section. Soriano, an abundance of "dishwashing" type gloves. I hit "gold" at Home Depot. They had several bins of gloves -- from heavy leather work gloves to the light leather palmed, cotton back gloves that I bought. I have a nasty habit of rubbing my face/lips and wanted the gloves as a self-deterent and safeguard. Jim

She flew domestically to her regular hidey-hole. She'd spent the weekend in Los Angeles, and said that while it didn't seem quite normal, it was not a "ghost town," nor was there mayhem in the streets.

Just do what Dave Hope is doing. Not only is he a warrior, he is the best survivor I know. Discalaimer: you may not have the prerequisite Constitution. | ------------
