Hola, Marble. How are you? What I find very interesting about Mexico's stats is that we show very few active cases, 16,000+, and and a high percentage of recovered ones, 75,000. Good. What is alarming is a higher death rate percentage, almost 12%, compared to other countries. 12,000+ deceased as shown on the Coronavirus Dashboard. Besides the numbers possibly being incorrect, I wonder about the reasons that might make the death rate so high in comparison. Is it that the Mexican victims had a higher number of contributing health problems that made them more vulnerable; some other mysterious undiscovered explanation; or is it the type of treatment, shortages of materials, and/or shortage of medical personnel that are the culprits contributing to such a dismal outcome, death. Anyway, I would rather not get the virus visit now. Too many unanswered questions and quickly mutating answers, mutating almost as fast as the bug. Manana is good enough for me, , Cruz

Cruz, I think much of it is because Mexico is barely testing, so it has no idea how many active and recovered cases there are. In the last month or so, the Health Minister said cases were probably 8 times higher than confirmed cases. As of yesterday, the following site indicates 2,355 tests per million people in Mexico. Worldwide, that number ranges from 0 to 413,034. Mexico ranked 150 out of 215 countries. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries COVID death counts are also inaccurate, in many countries, including Mexico (and the US). This pandemic is not even close to being contained, with rare exceptions such as New Zealand and Australia. Their testing rates are within the top 25 out of 215 countries. | ------------Re: mexico

Hola, Vickie. Yes, thank you, I think that explains it. For awhile it looked as if more than 50% of the 20% of the people that really got sic didn't make it. A dismal outcome if you went to the hospital. We need more testing but then who tracks down all the contacts of a positive one and quarantines them. I was told that the new Cihuatlan hospital is seeing outpatients. I'll try to track down an opening date and if they will be taking Covid-19 patients. Something hopeful anyway for general care.
