Re: Another link to Jalisco Covid stats

So where exactly are the two cases in La Huerta? There are so many threads on this topic that it's difficult to remember where I recently read that someone in La Manzanilla was hysterical because s/he had been told that a case had been reported here; someone else posted that one of the cases was "somewhere" on the coast. Governments are notorious for withholding specific information in order not to 1) start a panic or 2) hurt the economy, but what if some people deliberately spread rumors that there were hundreds of unreported cases in their own communities for the sole purpose of scaring "outsiders" away? Of course, I wouldn't do this, but seeing the tour buses and packed restaurants today did cause the thought to cross my mind. (That would really start a panic, if every local resident was not in on the ruse.) So who could get Francisco or Ray to spill the beans? | ------------Re: Another link to Jalisco Covid stats

There is an app called ParticpalLaHuerta and it’s free in the App Store. Someone on the message board suggested getting last fall. It has all kinds of info for our county and the COVID report is one section

Becci, would you mind checking the La Manzanilla/Boca Covid-19 stats for today and posting them? Since I don't have cellphone coverage where I live, I haven't invested in a smartphone and therefore have no way to use the app. I'm just interested in finding out why so many people seem to be getting rattled lately. Hey Lynne.. they don’t break it down by municipalities...just the county stats. I think people may be looking at international news and getting freaked by the spikes in Mexico in general.... frightening but so is everywhere. Stay safe. | ------------Re: Another link to Jalisco Covid stats

Thanks for the reply, Becci, although I don't find it very useful to know that there are a few cases somewhere in La Huerta--a very large county, most of which is far from the coast. This was my point in another thread. Both Francisco and Ray know where the Covid-19 cases are, so why won't they share this information? Rhetorical question! | ------------Re: Another link to Jalisco Covid stats

La Huerta is a municipality and not a county. There are 125 municipalities broken in the state and these are grouped together in a dozen regions for sub-management by the State government to make it easier.

Yes, we live in the Municipio (MPIO) de La Huerta, but many English speakers substitute the word "county," which is the closest geographical equivalent in the US--probably because a US municipality is a town or city within a county. (I don't know about Canada.) I find it easier to reply to someone else's post using the same terms that s/he does rather than try to explain what municipio/municipality means here in Mexico. | ------------Stats as of June 13

As of Saturday, June 13, there were reported to be 12 cases of Covid-19 in the municipio of Ciuatlán (https://coronavirus.jalisco.gob.mx/) and 3 deaths (https://ssj.jalisco.gob.mx/prensa/noticia/9130). In the municipio of La Huerta, there were 2 deaths, but didn’t say how many cases. I didn’t see anything specific to La Manzanilla. | ------------Re: Stats as of June 13

If I'm reading the chart correctly, there have been two cases in the "county" or "municipio" of La Huerta. There have been no reported deaths.

I think you are right, Mateo. I looked through the websites again, and could not find where I had read that there were 2 deaths In La Huerta on June 13th. But I did see the two cases. Sorry for my mistake. | ------------
