Can You Name This Animal

the the last few nights I have been serenaded by an animal I am unable to name. Here is an audio file, wth the sound at .01 -.03; .13 - 16; .24 - .27 and lastly fron .32 - .40
I'd really appreciate any help - although the recording is not very loud, the actual sound is VERY loud. Thanks in advance | ------------Re: Can You Name This Animal

I am pretty sure that is a frog. They start that when we get rain. It is quite loud when we have 2 or 3 going at the same time. | ------------Re: Can You Name This Animal

I should have said toad, not frog. And yes, they are big. In the morning I have seen them resting after a busy night. Don't know if they are cane toads, but I always keep my kitty inside and away from them, until I can move them away, as cane toads are apparently very dangerous to house pets. | ------------Re: Can You Name This Animal

That is a frog in the video Val and not the cane toads. They are incredibly loud for their size, but this is how they attract mates during the short rainy periods for reproduction. | ------------Re: Can You Name This Animal

Most likely it is one of these guys. This photo is a few years old but I took one out from behind my washing machine a couple of days ago and it sounded like it was using one of the perifoneo trucks to amplify its voice!! | ------------Re: Can You Name This Animal

Then Daniel I think you got it right. I went out last night with a torch to see if I could find the little beggar. thinking if it was a cane toad I would be able to see it and (hopefully) scoop it away. But I swear I was standing right over the noise and couldn't see a darn thing. So, as long as it is only for the rainy season I can definitely have it for a neighbour. | ------------Re: Can You Name This Animal

I'm pretty sure that is the lost call of the "land line" once infesting most homes. | ------------
