Has anybody heard from them or knows their whereabouts at this time! Know they live in the fire zone of Santa Cruz mountains and most likely were evacuated but would love to get in touch with them or hear they are fine elsewhere! Thanks! | ------------Re: Ken and Nancy Bernhardt

It's been pretty hectic lately for Nancy and I. Last Tuesday, the 18th, the fires up in the hills that started with the lightning show the other night, decided to head toward the beach. We were evacuated the next night and at the present time, staying at the Fairfield Marriott in Santa Cruz. The goats are in guest stalls at the fairgrounds. The chickens went with Nancy’s son Ian and living in his backyard in Alameda, thank God there is no rooster to irritate his neighbors at sunrise. Each day we think we will be able to go home but not today and probably not tomorrow. Our evacuation is still in effect but if you look for some bright spots, you can find them. Our fire is now 5% contained and the closest hot spot to our house is no closer now than it was yesterday. We have two TVs, one for the fire news and one for Netflix binge watching, we are now in season two of Longmire. We appreciate everyone concern.

Ken Burnap and Nancy Gaffney Burnap are, in fact, safely ensconced in a hotel. I spoke with Nancy this morning. The fire at that time was 5 miles from their property. They safely evacuated the goats to a pen at the local fairground, and all the other animals, except for one feral cat. They are emotionally distraught with the enormity of the destruction. The good news, wait for it......is, Nancy doesn’t have to cook, which she was getting tired with, however they are eating takeaway. | ------------Re: Ken and Nancy Bernhardt

Ken and Nancy, where do you live? I lived in Boulder Creek for 14 years before moving to Mexico 19 years ago. So sad to hear the daily news...Glad you are safe, as are all of my friends in that area who have evacuated, although one just lost his beautiful home in Brookdale. Stephanie, I lived at 1060 Nina Court. Hwy 9 from Brookdale towards Boulder Creek, rt. on Irwin Way(Which went by Camp Joy) just before Boulder Creek, then rt. on Fairmont to Nina Drive and right on Nina Court to it's end. I loved living there surrounded by redwoods. | ------------Re: Ken and Nancy Bernhardt
