They may be confusing Mexico with Canada. There are folks in Canada that can not access their properties in the U.S. Even U.S. citizens that own property in Point Roberts (a U.S. enclave near Vancouver) can not access it because you have to cross the U.S./Canada border, which remains closed to all non-essential personnel. I believe Mexico/ U.S. border is not closed in this manner.

Wow, that is a lot of red. Did a search, I guess non essential travel is a pretty flexible term with Mexico. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=mexico+closes+border+2020&t=hk&ia=web The buyers were referring to travel to Mexico. It is amazing some of the ideas people pick up, just depends on the persons news source and circle of friends I guess.

On paper it seems as though the US/MX boarder is still closed technically till the 21st of September for all non essential travel. We all know the generally leniency of the Mexican Customs but with phrases like “may be denied” it sounds contradictory in the sense that the US Embassy really doesn’t know and doesn’t want to be blamed if you are turned away at the boarder. It’s a shame as it causes unnecessary worry to those that want to come to Mexico. https://mx.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/covid-19-information/ “Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? [Yes] The United States and Mexico entered a joint initiative March 21 restricting non-essential travel along the U.S.-Mexico land border to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Non-essential travel includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature. The restrictions are in place until at least September 21. Please see the Embassy’s fact sheet for more information. Travelers entering Mexico by land from the United States may be denied admission if the purpose of their visit is considered non-essential. Travelers should carry evidence of the essential nature of their visit and evidence of their resident status in Mexico, if applicable.” Update regarding the Non-Essential travel extension from the Department of Homeland Security. The travel restriction was negotiated and extended with Mexico, Canada and the US included. https://www.dhs.gov/news/2020/08/14/fact-sheet-dhs-measures-border-limit-further-spread-coronavirus What is most incredible is that the DHS website above links me to Twitter to provide the official release of the new extension. https://twitter.com/DHS_Wolf/status/1294272922559930370

Daniel, regarding your comment about first hand experience you are super correct. I was on an international flight back from Zurich watching CNN and saw this “live” video of JFK International: I landed and saw this: Filled out a short half page questionnaire that was thrown in a cardboard box upon arrival and went on my way. | ------------Re: Crossing the border

Great post Alex. Due to personal experiences posted on social media we are all becoming more aware of the difference between main stream news and the reality on the ground. We are also becoming aware that the reason for that discrepancy is both control of the narrative and to increase advertising revenue by making situations sound more important / fearful than they actually are. Its a process but people are working their way through the changes brought about by social media and I trust we will find our way if the slippery slope of censorship does not interfere. Perhaps a news program titled Personal Experience would help to clarify some situations. | ------------
