Not to say how valid it is, but there is a general belief that those
who travel via airplane are going through the valley of death and
should be held to a higher standard of caution until they are
sure they are clean. Those who travel by car from Guadalajara or
the US have less stigma (again not to say how valid that is).
I never had an issue with the level of caution by locals or visitors
until I saw the direct contact (hugging and kissing without mask)
by new arrivals. That triggered me.
Each of us have our own idea of what we consider necessary precaution.
While most don't wear a mask I see groups of people who all wear
a mask, in that circle of friends or family that is the level of
precaution they feel is necessary (people watching is fun).
One nice thing about being here vs in the US (for example) is that
no one gives anyone else shit about their level of prevention. I guess
now that has to be changed to "up to a point" at least as far as
I am concerned.
One only need take a look around the world to see which countries
are successfully beating this virus to see which is the best path.
But that path has to be taken early in the game to be effective.
Most of us are on month 10 of dealing with COVID, not sure how much
longer this drama is going to play out but fairly soon now the data
gathered is going to be sufficient to start forming some pretty
accurate movies and documentaries of what has been going on. They
are going to be interesting to watch.
