No, not a stag beetle (family Lucanidae), but Sr. Dagoli could well be correct in his rhinoceros beetle identification. Rhino beetles also belong in the scarab beetle family (which is huge, some 1500 species), but not all sport the (often large) horned appendage that earned them that moniker. And this one does have some smaller wannabe horns, so... Anyways, thanks (from a one-time entomologist) for posting the photos, Rebecca.
