Re: Ivermectin and Covid
Re the Fox News video, the fact that it was the conspiracy theorist nut-bar Republican Senator Ron Johnson, a pathetic Trump sycophant who would seemingly believe almost anything, who introduced and obviously supports this doctor's ideas on ivermectin, should alone be enough evidence for anyone to realize that this is highly questionable if not bogus science (unless and until it can be shown to be effective in clinical trials, when I would happily change my mind). I did however watch the video and my opinion didn't change. The guy practically begs to be believed that this is a "miracle drug" and whines on and on at the end about what a great scientist he is and how all his team members are top-notch in their fields, and if only the NIH would listen to them and blah, blah, blah... If I'm not mistaken this is part of the same hearings that Johnson and others put on as a political show to please his "boss" about how great hydroxychloroquine was (whose use was shown to be very dangerous for Covid treatment). Well gee, I heard that injecting bleach into yourself might do the trick... https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-afs:Content:9768999400 The NIH and FDA recommend against its use for Covid treatment: https://www.covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov/antiviral-therapy/ivermectin/ Meantime, I'll continue to stay mostly at home, mask up on outings and wait to get in line for the vaccine when it's turn for my demo group (the semi-old farts). To not be able to be in LM again this winter is a tough pill to swallow. Feliz Navidad to all.
