Translated from the Spanish:
Last night was the Three Wise Men Eve. This is a lovely family tradition brought 5 centuries ago by Spaniards to all Latinamerican contemporary countries.
The center of celebration is to share a circular-shaped bread called the Rosca de Reyes. Inside of it there are hidden gifts. In Mexico and other countries we hide small Jesus newborn figures.
This tradition seems to have its origins in Roman saturnalia. In Europe the celebration included Latin countries, mainly Spain, France and Portugal.
In Mexico also it is a common practice that those who find the baby Jesus figure in their peace of bread, are committed to make and give tamales for everybody on February 2nd.
Tonight, January 6, many children in Mexico are going to have toys given thorough the night by the Three Wise Men, as they did with Jesus giving gold and frankincense and myrrh.
