Went to beach?, for walk with my dog. Why are they taking the sand away, on the south end, where are they taking it??
Also, manhole at the corner or boca del Río and playa Blanca is flowing nicely! It stinks like , well, your guess. Makes me wonder, what happened to the nice little town I moved to? Sad.

Jean...I walked through the shithole on the corner this morning avoiding the shit...and talked with the fishermen watching the beach progress! The consensus among them is that all the dirt that came down in the flood is being removed so that it is not simply politely the bay and causing problems with the fishing here...but I dunno...seems they were taking quite a bit of sand too but perhaps once the initial layer of just silt is removed the sand will reappear from tidal action!

That was polluting the bay....not politely.
And I can smell the crap from the manhole at my house a good block away so cannot imagine what it smells like at the hotel or homes closer to it! YUCK!

They will continue to screw around with the natural order of things until we have a beach just like Barra.

So very true Kathy. Every year I Bi--h and moan about truck loads of rock and sand being hauled off the beach. The consistently worst offender is a restaurant owner, mid town, who owns his own backhoe and 10 wheeler. I have asked him twice to just push the rocks back into the trench, where they came from! This year seems better, maybe he listened?
The rocks are the foundation for our beach. Natural tide and wave action brings the sand back from the bay after the Harvest Moon in late Oct. or early Nov. every year. The old timers who were born and raised locally have taught me this, by asking. The net outcome is that every truck load of rock and/or sand hauled off equals a smaller beach. And yes, another Barra could be the result.
But I have also learned to keep my own council. This beach belongs to the ejido and they will manage it as well as possible. Except when the county or state dictates or offers to pay the bill. And somehow the Feds think the constitution gives them ownership? Anyway, my two cents are not needed, confusing enough for all involved. rojo

I read the posts, I heard the complaints, but it wasn't until I sat at Pedro's last evening trying to enjoy the sunset that I realized what's going on. Pedro, by the way, has refused to let them remove his sand. Nobody I talked to last night seemed to understand why this is happening.

I just asked on the Green Team WhatsApp group, and Josefina replied that they are taking out the ‘exceso’, and putting it beside the lagoon.
They seem to be using it to build a parking lot there, next to Quinta Valentina.

I have heard that there is a fairly extensive comment thread about the beach work on Green Team WhatsApp group but I don't know how to link others to it.
Any assistance appreciated.

If anyone wants to join the Green Team WhatsApp group, it’s easy to do. Just send a WhatsApp message to me, 3151075198, or to Alberto (Bebo) at 3151144586.
Then we can forward you the most recent messages re the beach cleanup (reorganization??) ... whatever it is that is going on now.
The team was very active cleaning the beach after Hernan, then cleaning the streets, investigating sewage leaks, setting up recycling containers (ie. the big crocodile made of chicken wire to collect bottles by the cocodrilario), and recently, constructing a large bamboo structure that will be used as a nativity scene, just outside the church.
The WhatsApp group is all in Spanish, so I installed Google Translate’s TAP TO TRANSLATE feature on my cellphone. (very easy, just go to Settings on Google Translate, and tap to activate it) The translation shows up right on the screen, so you don’t have to keep jumping from one screen to another.

You just added me Carol, thank you.
I was hoping to read the messages that were going around yesterday but they are not available for me as I was not joined then
I may try your translation suggestions, I don't trust Google though. I only started semi trusting WhatsApp a few days ago (its owned by the Satan Facebook) but felt better after reading this
I have whatsapp on my desktop so I can work with it easier.

Carol forwarded me the WhatsApp conversation from yesterday, I translated the Spanish to English one message at a time. I have no idea how or if mixing the two formats (WhatsApp and the message board) will work. There are no names or phone numbers so I hope its ok.

[8:01 AM, 7/12/2020] +52 1 315 107 5198: Good afternoon, because it is a material given mostly stones, which are from the beach, the stream puts it into the sea every year and the sea takes care to remove it because it does not belong to the sea and it is something that damages us as a Turkish image and affects tourists and residents who go to bathe or walk. I do not see any problem, on the contrary, I thank this municipal government and our governor who They are helping to keep our beach in optimal conditions that those of us who live here enjoy as much as those who visit this beautiful town.

[8:01 AM, 7/12/2020] +52 1 315 107 5198: For me as a provider of tourist services it is very important to remove that material that prevents swimming and walking in the sea and the beach, many people arrive and see the beach filled with stone and turns and leaves.

Anyway, it's good that they are cleaning it, taking everything that the sea takes out because it does not want inside, also a beach without stones or garbage is more attractive
