Just received this email from a happy customer: I am one of those persons who was not able to come this year to La Manz and received the email from Visit La Manzanilla website encouraging us to make a donation and choose between a variety of projects/services.
My girlfriend Kathy visited me on her first trip to LaManzanilla in February 2020 when on her first night while having dinner at Tito’s she suffered a Meniere’s attack, fell to the ground and lost consciousness for a few minutes. Needles to say this was VERY scary for Kathy and I and as I wasn’t fluent in Spanish and not knowing what medical services were available I relied on local people to make the necessary calls.
How grateful was I when about 10 minutes later a young man showed up, he was a volunteer with the ambulance and quickly assessed the situation and took control. A few minutes later the ambulance arrived and I felt the weight lift and knew all would be well. I had known Kathy had these attacks but I had never witnessed one so what happened was definitely not expected.
We were escorted (Kathy on stretcher) into the ambulance a few more questions were asked, vitals were taken and then we were driven back to our rental accommodation. Kathy rested well that night and the next morning we were up early and eager to run in the 2020 recreational race that we had registered for the day before. We had bought t-shirts but in the confusion of the night before we just thought we had left them at the restaurant.
As we were running in the race who do we see but the 2 men who were our hero’s the night before and then one ran into the ambulance and came out with our t shirts! What a way to experience the generosity and compassion of the people of La Manz. It was my 7th year in a row coming to this beautiful beach side village and it is near and dear to my heart and I am very happy to make a donation on behalf of Kathy and myself.
Please forward me information on how to donate and I will do so shortly. Cheers to everyone who makes a difference with the La Manzanilla ambulance, your efforts and time are much appreciated!
