As a Canadian who has lived and loved 20 winters in La Manzanilla, I knew it would be difficult returning to Canada with 3 dogs if the pandemic worsened. So I didn't come as I don't have a big bank account. With the covid variant, most of us are very thankful our government is making travellers quarantine to protect us. All the folks in the Sun article who went to Israel would have had to do is get the PCR test with results before the flight and do the 2 day quarantine. It is common knowledge that the vaccine wouldn't get you a free pass home to Canada.
The vaccines are not 100% effective, so I think the PCR test is still very important. Travel is what has spread this horrible pandemic. Lots of us aren't vaccinated yet, and with the more contagious variant we are following the rules. They are advising us to not go to the bigger city 16km away or use the local ferry unless it is essential travel. In my opinion the virus spread through the US because of the mask deniers and their shameful leader and resulted in hundred of thousands of needless deaths.
In 1960, my own dear father died of polio weeks after travelling to Ontario from Manitoba to pick up a car he had won. He was a 33 year old father of 6 children running his own bakery who didn't get the vaccination because he was too busy. He was the only one in town died from polio. If it weren't our family with so many kids needing a station wagon, he would have been alive today. Our home town had herd immunity as everyone had been vaccinated except a few people who slipped through the cracks.
