Better quality hardware, screws, bolts, etc.

The ones that are being used for my golf cart, I've discovered, are a bunch of odds and ends that have been patched together. They are rusted and very hard to remove. This and the thin gauge of the copper wire could be one reason I keep having to get the lights fixed. Anyway, I was thinking that if I had a supply of different screws, nuts, bolts, etc. in all different sizes, made of stainless steel or brass, I could provide my own hardware when something needs fixing. Is that just a dream? Or is there a hardware store here that supplies this kind of thing? | -----------------------Re: Better quality hardware, screws, bolts, etc.

You could probably get the copper wire from the cell tower.. I’m sure there’s some left | -----------------------Re: Better quality hardware, screws, bolts, etc.

El Mundo del Tornillo, a store in Manzanillo, on the way up the hill after Santiago, on the right side as you drive in to the city, near an Oxxo. They have every kind of stainless (inoxidable) screw, bolt, and nut. I love that place. Best to take some samples of what you need. Ferretería Pollo in Melaque also has a small selection of stainless screws and bolts. It’s in the back - you have to ask. Another trick here is to spray your screws and bolts with Fluid Film (which you need to bring from Canada) or get some grease in a small jar at the Refacciones, or even Spray Chain Lube on them. WD40 does not work here, it evaporates in the heat. Buena suerte! | -----------------------Re: Better quality hardware, screws, bolts, etc.

Thanks, David, what a helpful answer! I’ll try to stop at El Mundo next chance I get. I did get a few really short screws (that I need for frames sometimes) at that big place on 200 in Melaque that sells tools, windows, etc. Fluid Film sounds great, too, but I guess that can’t be high on my list to bring down for awhile, anyway... | -----------------------
