I have watched this video and what I gleaned is that it might work if you were willing to wait "uno o dos años". It reminds me a lot of a sewage pit as I did not see any addition of light fluffy carbon material such as leaves, grass, straw or etc., a necessity when making compost. Put a bunch of food scraps in a hole without masses of carbon, the food will digest in place and it produces the same stuff that would come out of your gut. AS an ex-plumbing contractor I have seen and had to work with this disaster too many times in the past. O.K. maybe you have the patience to wait one or two years, then you have your "compost" underground and not very easy to get out being below ground. It is unique as a system, however most houses already have sewage disposal systems. | -----------------------Re: Trust me. If you want to make compost, watch this till the end

Seems way too cumbersome! I just dig a small hole in the garden, dump my small kitchen container with organic scraps in and cover it. No problems with animals rooting it out. Within a week it’s all disintegrated. | -----------------------Re: Trust me. If you want to make compost, watch this till the end

Thanks, Monte, I intend to keep a small container of wood chips, mixed with goat manure, and a little regular tierra, right beside the hole, so I can layer the deposits. I’ll add leaves also. I always put water into the kitchen pail of compostables, too, before dumping it, as I think it’s important to keep it moist. Mazinka, I’ve been doing the same thing, but the hole has to be too deep and wide, to accept the residuos from 2 or 3 days, and I have to have a big supply of leaves, Tierra etc., right beside the hole, in order to cover the residuos enough. (I add fish bones, too, so that attracts animals for sure.) All told, it just looks unattractive, and is not convenient. What I like about this is that the hole is straight sided, a smaller diameter, and deep. Yayo says he can dig it that way, no problem, though I guess a hole borer like they show in the video, would be easier. I think this will rot down very quickly, but in any case, rather that digging it up to use it, I’ll just plant something that needs rich soil, on top of the compost, and we’ll make another hole. Maybe I can find a sculptor who would make a turtle to cover the tire...something light, probably not papel maché, tho! | -----------------------
