Demi Lopez and his crew are the constructors of the new plaza, benches, pavers, and the base platform of the Whale Tail. Mazinka contributed the beautiful mosaics inset in the bench uprights. But I do not know the artist of the telling Tail. rojo PS. Many contributors made this remodel possible. Some are credited on the bench plaques, must be others too. Someone with more knowledge needed, Help. | -----------------------Re: The New Whale in Town

Pino is designed the sculpture, and he and Lydia were there last night, along with members of the Bocce committee that helped organize and pay for this jardencito. Pino told me the sculpture was actually built by another man who was there too, and I’m sorry I can't remember his name. I took a photo of him with his wife and daughter. It’s a very cool piece and I want to say congratulations to all involved in this project!

Out of curiosity and nosiness, I stopped and asked the tall, blonde lady in black what was going on. She explained the project - and pointed to the sculptor, a gentleman from Italy named “Pino” (I think). She said he used to live here. | -----------------------Re: The New Whale in Town

Phase 1 of the beautification of the Glorieta is almost complete. Thank you to all who stopped by during construction, and for those who stopped by last night during the Inauguration. I would just like to clarify, La Manzanilla Bocce Ball Committee spearheaded and paid for this project. Deme and his crew were hired to demolish and reconstruct the Glorieta. Enrique Suazo and family, Ariel, Jr and Gerson donated all machines, trucks and supplies during demonstration. Armondo was hired to work on all the electrical and water. The benches with name plates were sponsered by those individuals. Their donations paid for the construction and materials. It also paid for the beautiful mosaic insert designed and installed by Mazinka Rutherford, and for the donation plaques donated and designed by Tile Studio Colibri. The whale sculpture was designed and constructed by Pino. For those of you who do not know him Pino is an Italian Artist who lived in La Manzanilla for numerous years. Pino also spearheaded the first La Manzanilla Bocce Ball Tournament 7 years ago. The tail is constructed of fiberglass and metal and weighs 600kg. We would like to say a big thank you to all who participated in the Bocce Ball Gala and the tournament, you made this project possible. If you would like to see the process of this project pleas check out La Manzanilla Bocce Ball page on FB. If you have any questions we can be reached there.
