Lost Coin Purse
Posted by Lynne W on February 27, 2021, 12:10 am
Friday afternoon, somewhere around 12:30, I bought an item at the Costa Linda tienda (Rocio's), then sat on the edge of the sidewalk between the tienda and the liquor store to check my Tianguis shopping list. When I went to buy some fruits and vegetables, I no longer had my coin purse, so I raced back to Rocio's and looked everywhere along that short stretch of sidewalk/street, to no avail. Probably someone picked it up off the ground or out of my bag, delighted to find the two 200-peso notes that I planned to use to buy more ambulance raffle tickets. However, if you happened to find a purple and black striped cloth, Mexican-style coin purse with three zippered sections (the bills were in the center section), could you please let me know by emailing lunalena49@gmail.com? This was a lesson in not being mindful, but I still would like to get the coin purse back. | -----------------------Pickpocket

I have heard two recent reports of pickpockets recently. In both cases the wallets were taken from handbag or backpack. | -----------------------Re: Pickpocket

Why the heck don't people post these things before a situation becomes endemic? A few years ago, there were numerous house invasion, some involving physical encounters ... let's let our neighbours know when to exercise a little extra caution. | -----------------------p.s.

Lynne, I'm so sorry you've lost this $$$ and your little change purse. It must have been a shock, especially when you'd covered so little ground. I hope you get it back. | -----------------------Re: p.s.

Thanks for your moral support, Jo Anna. When I lived in San Miguel de Allende for 11 years, I was always very cautious and mindful about my money when I went to Tianguis. Here, not so much...until now. I never carry credit/debit cards or anything else of real value with me; I was upset mostly about losing my ambulance donation. I now think that someone plucked the coin purse out of my shoulder bag, because I know I didn't drop it. On the bright side, every single vendor offered to let me buy what I needed and pay next Friday...when I will be a lot more careful...and buy another coin purse to replace the one I'm sure I'll never see again. | -----------------------
