Yeah, they call it progress. I am going to miss the trash guys throwing everything up to the guys sitting on top of the truck and sitting up there when on the way out of town when the truck is full. The simpleness and the comradeship they share as a group. | -----------------------Re: Good garbage news

I have a few questions about this new vehicle. Just posting them here in case anyone has information Does this truck pick up recyclables? I think it has a compactor, right? So does it compact everything, ie., garbage mixed in with recyclables? And then where does the compacted material get dumped? | -----------------------Re: Good garbage news

The big new truck came by just now, and I got the answer to my question above. "Pura basura", said one of the workers, as they dumped a bin full of leaves, plastic bottles, and actual garbage into the truck. So it seems to me that if you want people like Maria and Javier to be able to access the metals that they can sell, you need to keep them separate. Otherwise, everything will be compacted into a dense package, and then it will be even harder to access the valuable materials. Progress..? | -----------------------Re: Good garbage news

Does anyone know where the "dump" is located? Wonder if it is a landfill or perhaps a burn site where later the ashes are buried. Any investigative reporters? | -----------------------Re: Good garbage news

The dump is just off 200. Going north right hand side of road. I think before turn off to Tenacatita. It is not a burn dump.. | -----------------------
