Marcos is in hospital
Posted by LisaFern on March 1, 2021, 6:08 pm
Many of you know Marcos Brambila, Dulce and family from their restaurant La Chora. Marcos was admitted to the hospital in Manzanillo early Monday morning. He was operated on this morning for a perforated appendix. He is now resting and has been told he needs to stay for 5 days. He asked me to post these 2 things: La Chora Restaurant & Bar will be closed till further notice. The family thanks you for your support in this difficult year for the local economy. The surgery cost 40,000 pesos. There may be other costs for the hospital stay, etc. but this is what is due now. Marcos and Dulce are respectfully asking the community for donations. Money has already been raised from their friends, and for that they are most grateful. If you would like to help out please contact me by email or phone. Thank you! lisafernp@gmail.com 315-100-9777 He will be allowed visitors at some point. I will ask for the particulars soon.

Thanks to everyone offering to help out. I spoke briefly with Marcos today. He is doing well. The doctors think he may be able to be released tomorrow, Wednesday. I am planning to go into Manzanillo tomorrow to see him and deliver the donations. Anyone wishing to donate from abroad can use Western Union to the OXXO in La Manzanilla. I believe the only info needed is my full name. I am including my address in case it's also needed. If you're hear in town just let me know and I will meet you, or one of the family will. Marcos and Dulce returned home to the family today at about 5 this afternoon. HIs mom and the two children were there to greet him and help him into the house. He is in great spirits, and so happy to be alive! He will need to be very careful in following doctor instructions to avoid infection and to let his body heal properly. He has an appt at Echauri hospital on Friday to get stitches out and his dressings changed. For today I want to thank everyone who helped the family. I'm sure he will want to thank each and every one of you that held him and his family in your hearts during this ordeal. Your donations were essential to his getting the needed operation. Without a large downpayment the hospital would not admit him to surgery even though he was in excruciating pain! He is getting set up at home so Dulce and his mom can care for him. There are bills to be paid, and loans to be repaid, and of course lost income. So if I missed anyone in the hurry to get to the hospital, please know that you can drop something off at their home, right behind the restaurant La Chora. It's great to live in such a supportive community!

Hi Lisa - can you let Marcos and family know that there is a La Manzanilla medical help fund that Abbi of the Galleria administers? We fundraise for this fund and Abbi collects donations also. Not sure how much is currently available but it may be worth it to contact her. | -----------------------Re: Marcos is home!

I visited the family today, Saturday. Marcos is doing a lot better. He is resting after getting the long drain and the stitches out on Friday. His next appointment is Wednesday. He's having some stomach discomfort from the strong antibiotics so is not eating much. He's getting fluids and vitamins with Dr Marta. Dulce has made up a comfortable, clean and airy room in part of the restaurant for him to recuperate. He told me that the whole family beds down in there at night. As you know, families here can be very close! I brought another batch of your donations today. Marcos and Dulce want you all to know that words cannot express the gratitude they feel for the love shown them by their friends and community. He is a very lucky man to survived a perforated appendix and peritonitis. His situation was very serious, but he is a strong young man and they are hoping he will be able to resume all his regular activities after several months of healing. They welcome any visitors who would like to stop by. Their house is right there at the restaurant La Chora on the arroyo. Thanks again from the Brambila family - Marcos, Dulce, Megan, and Dante. | -----------------------
