I found this fascinating. For those interested in water conservation ideas, Geoff Lawton is building food forests in the driest places on earth.

Most people that I meet do not know what permaculture is or what itmeans. A common misunderstanding is that it is about organic gardening. Yes, that is a component of it, however it is so much more being a holistic approach. An often over-looked element of permaculture is the community component. Here is what wikipedia has to say about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture | -----------------------Re: Permaculture

This was most inspiring, Michelle. The post was appreciated for the added confirmation that carbon sequestering is a surprising upside of any type of organic ground cover on bare soil. Apparently, even without growing food crops, covering soil world wide would make massive inroads on managing our carbon overload. The problem is, as usual, and as this scientist reminds us: we have the knowledge to work our way out of our problems just not necessarily the political will. For any who haven't seen the Netflix doc KISS THE GROUND, it perfectly describes this.

I was lucky enough to go one the premiers of Kiss the Ground at a small farm (BE Love) in my home town in northern Ca. I'm friends with the Parents of Ryland Engelhart Who is the Co-founder and Executive Director. My hope would be to show this Doc in all Middle/High schools. It is a visually beautifully, eye opening and educational! | -----------------------
