It is starting

Significant increase in people today, 8 am and hardly any parking down town with several buses already here, which means they left Guadalajara around 4 am. I remember last Easter was basically lockdown and as far as I can remember this is the fist holiday that is green since then. Should be quite the party! | -----------------------Re: It is starting

I'm curious about whether the beach closes at 5 p.m. like it's supposed to. | -----------------------Re: It is starting

You are referring to this article/policy linked below.
Seems the church is complying, today would have been the good friday procession with the crucifix, it didn't happen. Oops, this is Thursday As for the beach, all it would take is a couple of federales telling people to get off the beach and they would. IMO I doubt it will happen even with less than 1% wearing a mask on the beach. Restricting outdoor activities has always been a policy I struggle to understand, outside is actually the safest place to be. I look on that observation with nostalgia now as the counterintuitive policy's globally has become commonplace. Countries opening up or locking down, vaccines working or not, avaliable or not, variants, on and on. You couldn't confuse people any more than they are if you tried. https://members5.boardhost.com/lamanzanilla/msg/1616019695.html Of note "religious celebrations are suspended and processions, pilgrimages, living representations or any other that generate a concentration of people will not be allowed;" This is the biggest restriction by far, Easter is big big here. Also no boom boom's? "so access to beaches will be from 5:00 to 17:00" https://members5.boardhost.com/lamanzanilla/msg/1616022303.html | -----------------------Re: It is starting

Was downtown early this morning and the energy was palpable in the air! Lots of cars parked along all the side streets and vendors setting up! Back across the arroyo and nothing but a couple of extra cars parked at houses normally vacant! Let the fun begin! Wish I was able to go out and enjoy with them but am holding myself back, not fear, just think perhaps wise, who knows with all, as you point out, the various contradictions! Hope they all have a blast! And stay well! | -----------------------Re: It is starting

We ventured out for breakfast at Quinta Valentina, and there were only 3 tables occupied. The server said there it was busier on the long weekend 2 weeks ago. Here is a photo I took of the beach around 10:30 am this morning. Quieter than I remember for Holy Week

I have the beach & ocean to myself until after 11:00, then uncrowded brunch at Pedro's until about 1:00, then home for hammock time. Jardin is fine in the evening if I keep my distance. I have been vaccinated, but, even if not, virus load would not be that great. Would not go to an indoor space except short masked abarrotes interludes. | -----------------------
