Flight to Vancouver and quarantine hotel

Here is my report on my trip home: I got my PCR test in Puerto Vallarta at the Sanmare hospital for 3100 pesos and had my results 7 hours later. Flew from PV to Seattle on Easter Sunday and saw more people than I had seen in one place in a year. An airport employee told me they had 30000 people through departures that day. When we checked in for Vancouver they took our temperature and checked our PCR tests. At that point the test has to be less than 72 hrs old. One guy coming from India didn’t qualify and was not allowed on the plane. Both flights were less than half full. Vancouver airport was like a ghost town. More employees than travellers. We went through customs where they checked our quarantine hotel reservation. Then to the PCR testing registration. One is supposed to pre register, but I had forgotten and they were nice about it and just did it for me. Next the PCR test in the airport. There are about 20 testing stations set up and I didn’t have to wait. They gave me another home kit test for day 10 after arrival. Both tests are free. Someone called my quarantine hotel for the shuttle which arrived 10 minutes later. Everyone was really friendly and nothing was stressful. I’m at the Radisson hotel and paid C$ 850 for 3 days. They have the top 3 floors assigned to quarantine and I’m looking at the river, the mountains and airport island. The room is spacious and bright with very large windows. We have the right to go outside twice a day for 15 minutes. There is one security guard sitting by the elevator for all three floors. Nothing heavy. The hotel seems to just comply with regulations . For food I call the restaurant during certain times and have 3 choices for lunch and dinner. So far everything has been terrible, but ...who cares. As soon as my negative result from the test at the airport arrives I can leave here and continue my quarantine at home. Overall, I thought this would be a lot worse.

Hi Sabina: One question. Do you have to pay for 3 nights even if you only stay for one night? I've been home for months but I was curious. Vicki | -----------------------Re: Flight to Vancouver and quarantine hotel

My son just returned two weeks ago; tried to do the one day stay, but no go; got the results in less than 24 hours but three days are the rules that are in force. When they did the 11 quarantine time, get got three phone calls, one site visit and the rules were explain time and time again. | -----------------------
