Today, I tried to get a shot from the same angle as the original taken in the 70's. Waited all week but the tides are just not as low, so I couldn’t get the exact angle

David Is the variance in low tide levels because of the different time of year the photos were taken or because of the general rise in ocean levels? | -----------------------Re: Hotel Caído- Then and Now

I remember visiting a friends parents staying there sometime in the early '80's. It had to be peak season but there were hardly anybody staying there, as I remember. Of course, my memory is not renowned for high accuracy. Does anybody know how successful it was? | -----------------------Re: Hotel Caído- Then and Now

The tides are much lower at other times of the year, for instance in the winter. I haven’t noticed any difference in sea level - it seems the same as many years ago, and we live on the beach. I’m not sure when the boiler blew up, but I thought it was sometime in the late 70's? It was called the Hotel Bahia Tenacatita , and I don’t think it was occupied after that. By the time the earthquake and tsunami hit in 1995, the hotel was already a ruin. | -----------------------
