We had no issues even travelling with the dog. PV to Dallas to Calgary. Great quarantine hotel - Best Western Airport. No cost shuttle. Food was outstanding! They even cooked a cheese burger for Winston the dog. 1 night in hotel and now home on day 7 of home quarintine. Biggest issue was Winston decided to pee in the Dallas aiport concourse. Light snow today. Miss La Manz. Take care all. | -----------------------Re: returning home to Canada

Thank you Myranda and Art for taking the time to share your personal experience, its the real news. Certainly is a big contrast in the level of difficulty, kinda points out the difference when you don't have to save money and when you don't have issues with the hotel thing. Curious as to the cost comparison, do you have an approximate total on your trip Art? I know it may be different due to traveling with a dog and some other variances, but just curious. Edit - or maybe Myranda has a price comparison, or someone else has done the math? The $ difference may have been posted before but I did pay attention.

The Calgary Best Western was the best deal all over.$516 Can for three nights including shuttle both ways to airport and food. I don’t consider food wrapped in plastic and having to be nuked good but hey two full days ain’t going to kill you!! It was a restful break in long return. | -----------------------Re: returning home to Canada

Thanks Art and Ani. Well, as the worm turns eh? What happened to the $3,000 CAD hotel cost? That was a set price (if I remember correctly). I assume something significant has changed since the onset of this drama, is it the policy, the enforcement of the policy or....? If this info had been available at the start the resistance would have been minimal (I think). Also curious (but not curious enough to do the work) as to the personal experiences of those traveling by air to other parts of Canada, big differences or....

I dont think the hotel price was ever fixed... it depends on which hotel you choose. The Fourpoints Sheraton at Vancouver Airport has charged me $1250 for 3 nights in a room which goes for $150 per night if you are not on the “ government” plan... of course meals are included, and let us not forget “”security” 🙄🤣 . The most annoying thing ( apart from the “lockup” in the first place) is that you have to book and pay for 3 days even if you get your arrival test back in 1 day, which is what is happening in Vancouver. Whether or not you get a refund is up to the hotel and so far I dont think that is happening in Vancouver tho I think at least one Calgary hotel did give a refund? Of course the “ government” plan seems to be essentially optional in Calgary and Montreal, so maybe the hotels are more competitive? | -----------------------Re: returning home to Canada

We paid upfront for 3 nights. No refund for our 1 night stay. Results were emailed to us in around 14 hours. The Calgary airport was empty on our arrival Sunday night and maybe that is why we got our results so quick. | -----------------------Re: returning home to Canada

Hi Art, I’m curious to know if you received a refund for unused nights at the Best Western in Calgary? How quickly did you receive your test results? Gracias | -----------------------
