Coconut fiber

Is anyone going by the coco processing place just before Cihuatlan, and could bring me some of the finely shredded coco fibre. Or if someone has some I could buy from them, that would be great. It seems to be the best bet for mulching here. Carol 315 107 5198 | -----------------------Re: Coconut fiber

Maybe we could buy a pickup truck or larger load and split it 2, 3,4 ways? | -----------------------Re: Coconut fiber

That’s a good idea, Ron. Does anyone else need some? It’s inexpensive, compared to vermiculite, and can be mixed in to lighten the very compact soil we have here. You can also put it on top of plants as a mulch to conserve water. | -----------------------Re: Coconut fiber

Carol, I’d love to get on board with bringing some here. Would a small pickup, full, be enough? I think I could convince a friend with a small truck to do the run, but wondering if it would be enough? | -----------------------Re: Coconut fiber

Christian Garibay can provide some. He will be back from Guadalajara tomorrow night, and can tell us more about how he can get it to us. I’ll post the information here. | -----------------------Re: Coconut fiber

Just bumping this up... I got the telephone number of the place before Cihuatlan. It is 3317729612. Guillermo is the person to speak to. He said it can be ground to whatever degree of courseness is needed. I presume that if you use it as a straight mulch, it's different than using it to make a soil mix. Does anyone have experience with fibra de coco that they want to share here?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/i6BUfnFMxvb3HsYb9 Here's a photo of the coco fiber you can get from Christian. It's a bit course, but he says it will mix in easily with the soil, and hold moisture well. Christian is on WhatsApp at 331 527 7405. | -----------------------Re: Coconut fiber

The other local source is a plant on this side of Cihuatlan. The owner's name is Gullermo, and he says he will grind the fiber to whatever courseness you need. His tel. # is 331 772 9612. | -----------------------
