A little reality

People be showin up after traveling, not wearing a mask, not isolating at all and givin everyone hugs. OK, seems things are getting better and you may or may not be vaccinated. But don't you think a little reality may be in order? (read the helpful resources). Do you want to start a little India going on here or what? Jesus, get fuc#in real. | -----------------------Re: A little reality

Even though I miss hugs and have been vaccinated I still am very afraid of this virus. My daughter is an RN in the use and has seen and is seeing lots of very sick and people who have died in her ICU and ER’s . Wearing a mask is smart, keeping your distance is hard but living is your choice. Be safe for yourself and live. | -----------------------Re: A little reality

Daniel, You sure have a way with words. People without vaccinations: Where has your common sense, Logic, patience, and concern for humanity gone? Think again! You're putting the rest of us (n the world) and yourself in danger. It's a broad statement which starts at home, with family an friends. Pat | -----------------------Re: A little reality

We have been fortunate so far and every time I hear of an outbreak it seems to have originated from someone who traveled or worked at an airport. The you have places like Seychelles, the World’s most vaccinated nation reintroduces curbs as cases surge. https://old.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/n5f8y9/worlds_most_vaccinated_nation_seychelles/#gx0tfj0 They have lost of airflow there, same as here. There are plenty of pretty much unexplained instances of flare ups. Personally I don't care so much about mask or social distancing, but those who have just traveled. I just don't want to see La Manz become one of those hot spots that are in the news practically every day. Just a little common sense a little longer. | -----------------------Re: A little reality

I believe, with a little research, you will see that vaxxed people can still spread the virus. Please, you are not magically immune from it all just because you got jabbed. Please continue to be careful in tight confines. Respect your hosts. | -----------------------Interesting D...

But I have never seen you with a mask on, ever. ones own advice should include all of us. Are you exempt? "Personally I don't care so much about mask or social distancing, but those who have just traveled. Just looking at the words doesn't count, you have to read them. Let's try again, maybe bold with underlines will help "Personally I don't care so much about mask or social distancing, but those who have just traveled" And again, just in case you also did not read my first post, "and givin everyone hugs" | -----------------------Great response and...

Your point is no matter who travels (you do not) or hugs is your point, mine is that as written and I stated, "I HAVE NEVER SEEN YOU WITH A MASK ON, EVER". Lets try this again, "Jesus, get fuc#in real", your words, not mine...uncalled for is my point... | -----------------------Re: Great response and...

I am struggling to understand your post, let me rewrite it and see if you agree that this is what you are saying. I (Deano) don't think it is just for you to criticize those who travel and give hugs when you don't wear a mask. Is that your point? | -----------------------Good dialogue and yes...

That is my point and respect your right to choose. I just disagree...Peace Out | -----------------------Re: Good dialogue and yes...

Well, I am definately not an anti masker. I may state the low level of interaction I have with people as the reason I don't wear one but would not use that as a valid excuse. Basically I live by my instincts, if I feel danger I respond e.g. (for example) going into a place with very little air movement and people not wearing mask. That is a situation where I may get a significant viral load so I just don't go there. This post originated when I saw someone who had just arrived, they were all excited to be here and asked if they could give me a hug. I didn't say no but afterwards I felt like I had been caught off guard, and that my preference would have been not to hug them. I feel that hugging increases the chance of getting a significant viral load and un necessarily endangers others and the town. Hugging (especially those who have just traveled) is something that should be avoided until the COVID situation is more stable. My instincts said danger and I expressed that on the message board. You are free to have the opinion that because I don't comply with all of the safeguards that my warning is invalid and I will endure that opinion, but in my opinion its not a valid enough reason to not express my sense of danger. At least this way I won't be wishing I would have said something if things go South on us. | -----------------------Searched it

You are correct a vaccination doesn’t mean you won’t get Covid but you are less likely to be hospitalized or worse die. If you don’t follow the news in the US you probably haven’t seen the numbers going down. Thankful I survived 6 months in Mexico because only the gringos wear masks in LaManzanilla and I am now vaccinated. See you in November. P.S. you should get out more Daniel…it’s a big ole world out there | -----------------------Re: A little reality

"P.S. you should get out more Daniel…it’s a big ole world out there" Thanks Becci, true words. Unfortunately a big ole world I get in trouble in. Turned 70 this year, perhaps that dynamic will change, I keep hopin | -----------------------Choices...

All things are possible D, just a choice away. 70 is the new 50 so enjoy it while you can... | -----------------------Re: Choices...

That’s total bs. Wish it was that way. So easy to say NO to hugging. What’s that all about anyway? You Can’t Touch This......MC Hammer.

Is the heat beginning to make people a bit snarky? I'm new here so I've not had a chance to avoid hugs. I've spoken to locals who seem to think that their healthy, outdoor lifestyle have given them a special immunity to COVID and I like to think that they're right. They'd better be because it has been my observation that hardly anyone in La Manzanilla wears a mask and I must admit, that includes me. It has been wonderful to harbor a false sense of security after my move from Michoacán, but those of you who commented last night on our "little reality" served to remind all of us that there's a killer virus out there that would love a new population of humans to infect. Maybe it came in on a bus yesterday afternoon coming from Guadalajara. Ya never know.

As that article was published in October of last year, I am curious if you have any updates with more current information? Early on in the pandemic, I read that some scientists believed that high temperatures and high humidity were less conducive to the coronavirus. The target keeps moving. | -----------------------Re: a fine line...
