Hurricane: mudslides flash floods
Posted by Felipe on June 26, 2021, 2:41 pm
NOAA keeps upgrading the intensity of the storm as it begins to turn northwards. Bands of unrelenting rain may begin locally tonight and the forecast is for 4 m waves, flash flooding and potential mudslides along the coast. Please consider moving away from the beaches due to storm surge and localized flooding. Please prepare today as tomorrow is likely too late. Highwinds could knock out electricity or internet. Good luck to us all for fortunate turn of events. Ojala

Here’s vital information from the NOAA discussion group. We are not out of the woods yet we are in between rain bands and as the hurricane passes north, we will be hit by the trailing side with tropical storm winds and heavy rain. Key Messages: 1. The outer rainbands of Enrique are likely to produce heavy rains across a portion of southwestern Mexico during the next couple of days, which would likely cause life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides. 2. Tropical-storm-force winds are expected to continue across portions of southwestern Mexico through early Monday. Although the core of Enrique is still forecast to remain just offshore, any deviation to the right of the forecast track or expansion of the wind field could bring even stronger winds onshore over a portion of the southwestern coast of Mexico. Therefore, a Hurricane Watch remains in effect for a portion of that area. 3. Swells generated by Enrique are expected to affect the southwestern coast of Mexico during the next few days. These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip currents. | -----------------------Up to 6 m waves according to national meteorological service
